The side effects of SARS-CoV-2 are catalogued as “Long COVID”. Such side-effects are the manifestations of persisting chronic symptoms for months and even years after the initial acute infection.

Long COVID can manifests itself in a variety of ways, ranging from respiratory problems to chest pain or tightness, to memory loss and concentration and heart palpitations to mention just a few. As such, pinpointing the underlying causes of this chronic illness has been problematic.

Scientists are still exploring what is known about long COVID and what lessons need to learn from the current data.
